Communicate with impact and influence: Effective cross-cultural communication for international businesses

You may be a skilled and confident professional. But when operating in a global market, you may often feel frustrated that your message is not getting through. Or you may feel uncertain in a diverse cross-cultural setting, worried that you may strike a wrong tone or cause misunderstanding.

(W1) Balancing brain hemispheres for more impact and creativity

Understanding the right and left hemisphere of the brain to access greater creativity and intuition, and become more collaborative and empowered in the way you work.

While the two hemispheres of the brain work together in almost everything you do in your day-to-day life, they view the world in vastly different ways.

To reach one’s full potential and to work in a more impactful way, it’s to use both hemispheres in a balanced and integrated manner.

In this workshop, the participants will:

  • Explore the strengths and weaknesses of each hemisphere of the brain, as well as their own default under stress
  • Discover strategies to use both brain hemispheres in a more integrated way to help them become more effective as individuals and a team

(W2) Activating your brain superpower

Exploring the role of the executive function of the brain to reduce stress, prevent burnout, and sustain high performance.

Working in a highly pressurized and fast-changing work environment can lead to stress and feeling overwhelmed. Over time, this can impact mental health and performance and lead to burnout.

This workshop will provide you with the knowledge and resources you need to lead and inspire through smart working: minimizing stress, avoiding burnout, and maximizing well-being and performance in your workplace.

In this workshop, the participants will:

  • Explore the research on the impact of stress on the prefrontal cortex, more commonly known as the executive function of the brain
  • Learn to recognize too much, too little, or just the right amount of stress in their life, leveraging stress as their workplace best friend
  • Learn and begin to apply the research on how to manage stress more effectively to drive and sustain high performance

(W3) Embracing innovative and sustainable ways of working by mastering brain networks

Working with task-positive (TPN) and default-mode (DMN) networks intentionally to drive inspiration, focus, and productivity.

Our brain has two networks that become activated depending on what we focus our attention on. In this workshop, the participants will:

  • Discover the strengths and weaknesses of these two networks, TPN and DMN, and how each contributes to problem-solving, creativity, and focus
  • Explore their own experience being in both task and default modes to understand how stepping back from constant “doing” can unlock fresh, innovative solutions to professional challenges
  • Learn how to apply these insights both individually and in a team to increase productivity, collaboration, and inspiration

(W4) Having challenging conversations

Applying insights from neuroscience to improve communication skills and tackle difficult feedback conversations with clarity and confidence.

Giving and receiving feedback is one of the most fundamental yet challenging aspects of effective communication, essential for enhancing performance and driving excellence within the team. Yet, many of us hesitate to engage in these conversations, whether it’s giving and receiving performance-related feedback or addressing sensitive topics with colleagues.

In this workshop, the participants will:

  • Understand the brain’s response to feedback and learn techniques to minimize defensiveness and maximize engagement
  • Learn to confidently navigate challenging conversations, fostering a culture of openness and collaboration, especially in diverse environments with varying seniority levels and cultural norms
  • Practice frameworks for delivering feedback in a way that motivates change and fosters collaboration

(W5) Rewiring your brain for success

Neuroplasticity as the brain’s mechanism for change: building and sustaining good habits to rewire the brain and master professional challenges.

In this workshop, the participants will:

  • Learn the mechanisms of neuroplasticity and how they can help facilitate lasting change and growth in themselves and others
  • Understand the factors that support or impede rewiring of the brain
  • Practice applying neuroplasticity to their own professional challenges

(W6) Tackle the imposter in you: how to combat your inner critic to increase confidence

Neuroplasticity as the brain’s mechanism for change: building and sustaining good habits to rewire the brain and master professional challenges.

In this workshop, the participants will:

  • Learn the mechanisms of neuroplasticity and how they can help facilitate lasting change and growth in themselves and others
  • Understand the factors that support or impede rewiring of the brain
  • Practice applying neuroplasticity to their own professional challenges

I invited Tami to conduct our annual off-site training for our litigation associates, who range from newly qualified to those nearing partnership. Our team often deals with long hours, complex cases, and high-pressure situations that can affect their daily lives.

Tami’s training was invaluable in helping our team understand that while they cannot change the behaviours of others, they can gain insight into their own behaviours and reactions. In this workshop, the participants will learn:

  • How to prepare effectively for any networking opportunity
  • How to overcome your fears and discomfort and present yourself in the best light while staying authentic
  • How to approach strangers, introduce yourself, and make a transition from superficial small talk to impactful discussions
  • How to build rapport and turn connections into relationships

I decided to participate in this programme because I wanted to be able to express my ideas more effectively. Also, I had little confidence in my presentation skills. During this programme, Tami shared her own experience, made us think about what the presentation is, and engaged us to participate in active discussion.

I learned that thinking my ideas through in advance, picking up three most important points, and speaking in my own words are the most important factors for a successful presentation.

This programme made me realise that delivering a presentation is more simple than thought. It’s just another way to use my own words to communicate my ideas.
